OCtunes is like iTunes for Local Music

If you’ve ever looked online for Island music, you know that it’s pretty slim pickings. Well not any more. I went to OCtunes.com and found what they call the most island music on the planet. I liked the fact that I could listen to samples from a large selection of local artists. It’s like an iTunes for local music and you can buy the tracks you like or the whole CD. I think it’s a great way to sample and buy Island music online.

If you use your cellphone a lot I’ve got a great tip for you

Listen to this MP3 tip Listen to this Tip

If you use your cellphone a lot I’ve got a great tip for you. Go out and buy an “ear bud” headset. These are different from traditional headsets as they have no visible microphone or bulky loop that fits over your head. The whole thing is a little bud that comfortably goes right in your ear and that’s it. It’s very cool and works extremely well. I’ve been using it on my cellphone now for about a year and never leave home without it. Using an ear bud headset while you’re in the car completely alters the entire cellphone experience. Because you don’t have to hold the cellphone with your hands or bend your neck, driving is much safer and you can talk for long periods without ever getting tired. I used to hate getting caught in traffic but now I’m always on the phone when I’m on the road. It feels great to be so productive and you can too.

Excel Instead of a Calculator

Listen to this tip using a RealMedia player Listen to this Tip

When you are at your desk and you need to do a quick math calculation, I’ll bet you whip out your handy dandy desk calculator, right? Have you ever stopped to think of what a huge waste of money and resources that is? Why use a puny 5 function calculator when you’ve got a virtual supercomputer sitting on your desk? Next time use a spreadsheet instead! Why? For one, you can setup quick formulas that make recalculating many times faster than re-doing the whole thing on a calculator. Secondly, after you’ve done your spreadsheet calculations, you can easily email the results along with explanations to whoever else needs to see your work. Try that with a calculator. So get rid of all the calculators on your desk next time reach for a spreadsheet. It takes effort to break the old habit but I guarantee you’ll be glad you did.

Doesn’t it seem like our lives are more hectic than ever? I thought technology was supposed to make life easier…

Doesn’t it seem like our lives are more hectic than ever? I thought technology was supposed to make life easier but what I found is that I worked longer, harder, and more stressful hours than ever before. Why is this? Well my answer is that all this technology has made it too easy for us to take on too much work without having a clear idea on how much time it will take to get the job done and then not having a good handle on how much available time we really have to complete those tasks. The result is overwork and overstress. While I can’t promise you a solution to everything, I can tell you that I’ve been using Microsoft Project for the past 3 years to manage my personal workload and the results have been incredible. Nowadays, I get my jobs done on time, I don’t work weekends, and I still have time to spend with my family. If you think if your life as one giant Project and use Microsoft Project to manage it, you have a good chance of getting your life back.

Got Beach Phone?

Listen to this MP3 tip Listen to this Tip

When you go to the beach, do you wear your work clothes? Of course not. But yet, the cellphone you take to work is the same one you take to the beach, right? Well, if you’ve use tmobile, you don’t have to and that’s because all the information on a tmobile phone like your phone lists and phone number are not really stored in the phone, but rather on a little chip that you plugged in your phone when you first got it. If you move that chip to another phone, all your information goes with it. I’ve been using tmobile for years now, and on the weekends, I move my chip to an older phone that I can throw into a beach bag. During the week, I’ve got the chip in shiny new business phone. Now you can wear the right tmobile phone for the right occasion. Try it!

Email SMS to a Phone

Listen to this MP3 tip Listen to this Tip

Picture this: you’re at the office and you need to send a quick message to a colleague who is on the road with their tmobile wireless phone. Instead of making a phone call the might land in their voicemail or interrupt them at a meeting, send them an email message instead. So for example if their phone number is 8085551212, then you just send an email to 8085551212@tmomail.net. If they are a tmobile subscriber, that message will go to their phone in seconds. I use this feature all the time and it’s the perfect when you want to get a quick, short message out. Try it!
